Secret Santa List

For those of you attending our Christmas family reunion, this is the place to leave your letters to Secret Santa. Please keep your requests under $25.00.

To leave Santa a request, click on "comments" below. Type your list in the box. In the "comment as" box, pick "name/url". Just put your name in, don't worry about the URL.

I've left my list to get you started.

Love,
Mumma/Mom/Abby/Auntie A.

PS - Don't despair if you don't see your comment right away. I've set it up so I have to approve the comment before it goes on line. This way the SPAM-O-BOTS can't hit me with a lot of junk. I'll try to look at least once a day to see what has come in.

Dear Secret Santa,
I've been a good girl this year. I would love anything related to music...an ipod gift certificate, a CD you burn yourself,(please don't pirate music,), socks, slippers (6 1/2 to 7), and pink and aqua are my colors. I love Vera Bradley (any pattern), coffee, tea and the beach. A picture of you from years ago would make my day. I knit obsessively. I wear silver jewelry and don't get too matchy-matchy.

Dear Santa,
How are you? I sure am looking forward to your yearly visit. I've been mostly a good girl this year, just a few slip-ups...Anyway, I'd like to give you my wish list. 1. A book called The Ugly Stepsister (author same as Wicked) 2. Abook called Cowardly Lion by the same author. 3. Gone with the Wind book - large print. 4. I like all kinds of jewelry except dangling earrings. They get on my nerves.I love all colors. 5. Anything handmade or crafty. 6. pictures of family. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Santa:

This has been a rough year - almost the perfect storm. My football team has found an interesting way to lose games it should win handily. I had to bury our beloved dog, Daisey. My wife and I are struggling a bit with an empty nest. And now, a well-intentioned but hairbrained scheme cooked up by Jimma Carter about 30 years ago has led to a stock market crash of epic proportions, making our employment a lot less certain. To top it all off, we elected a socialist as our next president, so things are very likely to get a lot worse than they are now. And there are no tiny little wooden ships that could float off to some undiscovered continent - at least none that I can afford...

So - this year, I am grateful. That's the way it's been for many years now, but this year, with so much more in doubt, I am even more grateful... that we all still seem to have our health... that of the kids seem to be succeeding at what they want to do in life... that none of us seem to have been singled out for any random disasters. That's a lot to be grateful for, and God is good and great and full of grace that I am incapable of understanding.

What I would like most this Christmas I already have - and that is the opportunity to see all of my in-laws, all together in one place, like all those times at the Allen family homestead in Alabama. They mean more to me than I think they would believe. God has given me that gift this year, and Christmas will be a full and blessed experience if I receive only that one gift.

If I had to choose something for myself beyond that, it would probably be the gift of quiet time - away from all of the responsibilities and the fools and the looming disasters - and to work with my hands in the refuge I call my workshop (the garage). A piece of wood to work, some sawdust on the floor, something along those lines. Perhaps a gift certificate to a home improvement store would be the thing.

I suppose I'll sample the milk and cookies again this year, but I might have some help with that, as there will be a few other "Santa's helpers" in attendance. You might want to bring a snack this year.

Dear secret santa:
The Main thing I want is to not be in the navy anymore and live closer to my family :) I am so homesick! :( But going home and staying there is impossible at the time. I am thankful though that I do get to go home for christmas this year, even if it's just for two weeks. The navy isn't bad(The WORST part is already over with), I just miss home alot.

my entire life I've been performing music. I can play 3 instruments and I can sing, and I'm learning about songwriting. I've also recorded on cd's with the Troy State University Marching band. I have played in several community bands, I worked at a concert arena, I have even met famous musicians and also performed with a few before.(remember those half time shows at Troy State?) I've done alot with music and want to continue doing more. I'm even going to get a music based job after I get out of the Navy.

I'm currently in the United States Navy, and I am going to try out for the Navy band as well. I love music, it's in my soul. I want to keep doing it until the day I die. When I lived in Atlanta, every day I would do an "oldies jam" and rock out to alot of oldies music, putting on a show for my parents and they loved it.

I also love to research the history of music, I've admired great performers such as Buddy Holley, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Strummer, and even classical composers such as beethoven and mozart. I've blown people away with my knowledge of not only how to perform music but the history of it as well.

My christmas wish is for a book on the history of Rock and Roll. Or anything musical, a keychain, a gift card from guitar center, or a gift card from any music store, and so on.

If not that, I love atlanta merchandise! I lived in atlanta, GA(actually gwinnett county) for two years(2005-2007) and I loved it, and I also really, REALLY miss it. I loved the braves, I loved all those concerts I went to, there is alot to see and do there, and it was just alot of fun! I really wish I still lived there. Everytime I talk to my navy buddies about Atlanta I get teary eyed sometimes, and I get really sad. I loved that place. I had the time of my life there, like I said earlier I am REALLY homesick :(

I love Atlanta or Georgia merchandise(such as keychains or postcards and so on). It really is a wonderful place to live.

I also wish for my shipmates to have a wonderful christmas, and the military in Iraq, I hope and pray they get to come home for christmas as well.

Dear Santa,

I love winter. I spend a lot of my time reading and writing papers, so anything to feed my coffee addiction or love of comfort would be a perfect gift. I have an affinity for exotic-flavored coffees or creamers, and I love silly things like this. I also have a strange obsession with hats like this and this, just as long as they have ear flaps. If all else fails, I'd like the "The House of Mirth," by Edith Wharton.

Thank you Santa, and I hope you see that I've been a good girl this year.

Loyally,

Jennifer

Dear Santa:
Surprisingly I have been a good girl this year, especially with exercising and avoiding junk food as much as I possibly can. (Here's to hoping I can maintain this)
I would LOVE a futon couch for my apartment, but alas none I can find are under $25. But here are some less expensive desires for Christmas:
1.) Any season (1-4) of The Partridge Family on DVD
2.) A sweetest, softest ever bathrobe (pink) from Bath and Body Works.
3.) Lava lamp for my office
4.) Gold mood ring
5.) Troy University sweatshirt
6.) Walk The Line on DVD
7.) Gift cards! I love the Nike store, Bath and Body Works, any shoe store (Payless, Rack Room Shoes, The Shoe Dept, DSW Shoe Warehouse), Bed Bath and Beyond.
8.) World peace
Thank you dear sweet Santa! I never stopped believing in you!

Dear Santa,
Hey, this is Joy. Lyn can't decide what he wants for Christmas, so I'm writing this for him. First of all, he's been a pretty good boy, not naughty at all. Second, he is a bah, humbug kind of person, but please don't hold it against him. We love him anyway. The only thing I know that he needs and wants is a watch. However, he likes to read. Anything Abby (his sister, as I'm sure you already know) has given him in the past has been a really good pick for him, so she might be able to advise you on a book he might like. Thanks for reading my letter, Santa....18 more days!!! See you soon!

Dear Secret Santa,
I enjoyed John Grisham's book "Playing for Pizza." I also enjoy Dean Koontz books but they are hugely creepy. "One door away from heaven" is especially good by him. I thought "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet and the sequel "World Without End" also were good but very long. Maybe my brother would like one of those if he hasn't read them. I don't know if he has the movie Napoleon Dynamite or Talledega Nights the Legend of Ricky Bobby but I laugh myself sick over either one of those.

Helpfully,
Abby

I also laughed myself sick over Talladega Nights. We must share the same warped sense of humor gene. LOL!

Dear St. Nick,

Sorry I'm writing you so late. If you've already filled up the sleigh, don't worry, just buckle your belt and get on down to the beach.

But just in case you were holding out for my list... I've just discovered this awesome band called The Gaslight Anthem, a curious blend of post-punk energy, Jersey Shore romanticism and early-U2 exhilaration. They've put out an album called "The '59 Sound" and it's downright incredible, a fifth-gear ride all the way. That would make my day.

I may not always have been good this year (just kidding) but I've sure been busy. Had you been on your way in November I would have asked you for some of your frequent flyer miles instead.

Merry Christmas,

John

Dear Santa,
You know I've been good this year (wink, wink) and I am sorry for such a late response to your request for a wishlist. But you know me ...always got a thousand things going on. All I want for Christmas is a Target gift card. Seriously. I am obsessed with that store. It would make me oh so happy. Thanks!

Dear Santa,

On behalf of Granddaddy/Pop/Carroll, a new wallet would be nice. He likes the tri-fold kind. Also, a belt would be good - size 36 I think but should probably check on that. And any kind of candy or homemade treat. There are lots of ball caps for sale at the beach with Outer Banks on it. That might work too.

I will leave you some cookies and egg nog.

Love,
Abby
